Free physicals for Sardis athletes will be Friday, May 3rd at the high school. Athletes must get a blank physical form and fully complete the front to get a physical on that day.

8th-Grade Parent Registration Meeting - 3/6/24
The 8th-grade parent registration meeting will be on March 6, 2024, at 6:00 PM in the Sardis High School lunchroom. This is where students will choose classes for 9th grade. Students need to bring their charged Chromebooks as well.

"Hunt for Happiness" Week Scavenger Hunt
Bed Build Update
Etowah County's 5th Annual PJ Day Bed Build will be at Glencoe Middle School on February 10th at 9 AM. Over 50 beds for young people in our area will be built. This bed build is sponsored by the collaborative partnership of local schools and businesses as a result of the 5th Annual PJ Day fundraiser. No experience is necessary! They will teach you everything you need to know, and they have all of the necessary supplies (gloves, safety glasses, tools, etc).
Parking will be at Glencoe High School.

Midterms Update
Midterm exams at SMS will be Monday, Dec. 11 and Tuesday, Dec. 12. Monday, Dec. 11 will be a regular school day with all-day attendance expected. Midterms on Tuesday, Dec. 12 will be completed by lunch, and information about the checkout procedure for that day will be sent home with students on Monday, Dec. 4. Also included in Monday's handout will be information about student attendance on the days after midterm exams are completed.

Veterans Day Program Update
The doors will not open until 8 AM.
Halloween Dress-Up Rules for 2023
The guidelines below are in effect for those students who want to participate in the
“Costume Contest” as well as the kids that just want to dress up for Halloween
Day.
1. No excessive gore, blood, or other “gross” type of body or face paint is
allowed.
2. Masks/headgear can be worn, but must be removed in classrooms at a
teacher’s discretion.
3. Only for the costume contest can props such as knives, blades, guns be
brought and these must be checked in at the office when the student arrives
at SMS.
4. Costume prop weapons must be cleared by office staff before school begins.
This includes Capt. America shield, Star Wars lightsabers, full-length
swords, etc.
5. Any student dressed as any type of movie/action figure that would be seen as
“scary” cannot purposefully use any scare tactics toward any other students.
Any purposeful violations of any of the above guidelines will result in disciplinary
actions. Any actions that scare or otherwise disrupt classes or cause a disruption
will be dealt with as deemed appropriate by SMS administration.

JH Volleyball County Tournament
All matches will be played in the Glencoe High School Gym on Saturday, September 23rd. Doors open at 7AM. Concessions and t-shirts will be on sale, and they will have food trucks available as well. They will announce an All-County Team at the conclusion of the championship games. Tickets are $10 at the door and $11 on Gofan.

Early Release - September 29th - Homecoming Parade
Sardis area schools will release three hours early on Friday, September 29th, for the homecoming parade. Sardis Middle will release at 11:45 AM.

Start with Hello Week (August 21st-25th)
Monday - Start with hello!
Wear yellow or green, the colors of the "hello" campaign.
Tuesday - Start talking!
Wear something important to you (favorite team, band, color, etc.)
Wednesday - No one belongs in the shadows!
Wear camo or black.
Thursday - Notice others!
Wear neon/bright colors.
Friday - Stay connected!
Wear USA colors.
Update
Information for parents concerning SMS rules and changes in our attendance/excused & unexcused absences/make-up work and grades will be sent home with all students on Monday, August 14. (We ran into a delay in trying to have them ready by this afternoon.) This form will need to be signed by parent and student and returned to school where they will be kept on file.
Parent Orientation
SMS Parent Orientation Meeting - Thursday, August 10 at 6pm in SMS Gym.
This meeting is for parents, but students are allowed to attend as well. At least one parent of every student is encouraged to attend this meeting.
Topics of discussion include Title I, attendance, absences/excuses, make-up work, and grading procedure changes for 23-24.
The meeting should be completed by 7pm.
SMS OFFICE CLOSED
The SMS office will be closed the weeks of June 26 and July 3 for office and hallway maintenance and floor waxing.
